Previously, you heard the voices of the students in our B.A.M. program. Now, it’s time to hear how the students at William Knibb Memorial High School in Jamaica feel about our J.A.M.I.N. program.

“My favorite part of the program was planting our mangroves today. It felt nice giving back to the world.”
– Jelenah Wynter
“I learned that mangroves are way more valuable than people think. I never knew about the special benefits we get from mangroves because I never thought they were important until I got this experience.”
– Devine Chin

“My favorite parts were the practical aspects of the program, like when we interacted with the species, played the food web game, and went to the beach to plant our children (mangroves).”
– Tessan Thomas
“Others overlook mangroves because they don’t have knowledge about them. There should be more programs like this about mangroves worldwide so that more people know about them.”
– Rojanaie Sorrell

“Planting the mangroves made me feel at ease, like I was changing the future of Jamaica. I believe that mangroves are worth fighting for.”
– Ribbonae Cooke (on the left)
“My favorite part of this program is that it allows one to get a hands-on experience, so you can actually view what you are studying and better understand it. This experience was both fun and educational, and I will surely miss it when it ends.”
– Lysania Lewis

“I learned a lot about mangroves. Honestly, I didn’t know much about them and what they do, but after this program, I was informed that many places around the world need mangroves, including Jamaica.”
— Dorlika Eaton
“I would like to thank the J.A.M.I.N. team for teaching us about mangroves and taking us on this journey. Thank you again and don’t stop!”
– Kacia Minto

I have learnt that mangroves are special trees that grow along the coast in salty water. They have strong roots that help them survive and protect the shoreline from erosion and storms.
I have also learnt that mangroves provide a home for fish, crabs, birds and other animals, and they help clean the water.
