Bio

Janet Eyre is and avid citizen scientist. After receiving a BA in Geology from Harvard in 1976, Janet worked for several equipment leasing companies in San Francisco. Janet was scuba certified in 1994 and discovered a passion and concern for the oceans and marine life. In 2001, Janet retired from the corporate world and started doing fish surveys for Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF). She serves on their Advanced Assessment Teams for the Tropical Western Atlantic, Hawaii and South Pacific regions. She will have completed over 1,000 surveys by the time she boards the Golden Shadow. Janet also volunteers in the Ichthyology Department at the California Academy of Sciences, cataloguing and performing DNA extractions on fish tissue samples.
