Bio

Llewwlyn Meggs academic background has seen him attending Mona Preparatory as a boy. Leaving Mona he won the McMorris’s Award for excellence in academia and football/soccer. He graduated from his high school Campion College in 1996 having completed his A Levels in the Sciences and representing not only his school, but Jamaica in both football/soccer and cricket. This and good results at the end of his first year as an undergraduate at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus, helped him in being awarded the Franz Botek Scholarship for excellence in Academia and cricket by his second year at the University. For his BSc. he earned a double major in Zoology and Botany, graduating with Upper Second Class Honors. He went on to complete his Master of Philosophy degree at UWI, Mona as well (Postlarval Settlement and Growth of the Spiny Lobster, Panulirus argus Latrielle on the South Coast of Jamaica).
After completing his Masters degree, Llewelyn Meggs taught secondary school Biology, did environmental consultancy, was Education Officer in the Natural History Division of the Institute of Jamaica, Project Officer for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup held in the Caribbean and is currently Conservation Coordinator of the Pedro Bank Management Programme for TNC. He became a PADI Open Water Diver in 2000 and have since gone through the Advanced Open Water, Rescue and Nitrox Certification courses. Most recently he have began training to become certified as a diver with the American Academy of Underwater Scientists (AAUS).
