Q&A with filmmaker Alison Barrat

Alison Barrat’s film “Mapping the Blue” follows the story of the world’s largest marine park. The film is one of the entries in this year’s American Conservation Film Festival. Barrat lives in Maryland, near the Chesapeake Bay, and works for The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation.

BLUE Film AwardWhat makes this film an important addition to the American Conservation Film Festival?

This film is about how we can use cutting edge tools to plan multi-use conservation areas. I think that’s important because we need to include people in conservation solutions, and make allowances for people to continue using an area rather than just setting it aside as untouchable.
