The 2025 Annual Report highlights how the Foundation is building on a 25-year legacy of exploration and discovery while continuing to evolve its approach to ocean conservation. From the Global Reef Expedition to today, our work has generated knowledge that continues to inform conservation efforts worldwide. We now extend that impact by sharing our data, expertise, and tools with partners, researchers, and communities working to protect marine ecosystems.
Throughout the year, we continued to support coral reef conservation through global collaborations, including contributions to the Status of Coral Reefs of the World report and partnerships advancing new technologies for reef mapping and monitoring. At the same time, we strengthened community-based conservation efforts, working with partners in Fiji to support long-term reef monitoring and management.
Our Mangrove Education and Restoration programs in The Bahamas and Jamaica continued to grow, engaging students in hands-on science and restoration while fostering a deeper connection to local ecosystems. Building on this success, we piloted a new seagrass education curriculum in Jamaica, expanding our education programs to include another critical coastal habitat.
Education and outreach remain central to our mission. This year, we continued to engage students worldwide through the Science Without Borders® Challenge and developed new resources, including the Little Creatures with a Big Messageeducator’s guide, which uses data from the Global Reef Expedition to bring real-world science into the classroom.
In 2025, we also launched a newly redesigned website that brings together our science, conservation initiatives, and educational resources in a more accessible and engaging platform. Together, these efforts reflect the Foundation’s growing emphasis on improving ocean literacy and inspiring people around the world to understand and protect the ocean.
