Bio

Allan's studies in marine biology began as an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. It was here that he focused his studies on coral reef ecology. Following his undergraduate studies, he obtained his Master’s degree at the University of the Virgin Islands where his research focused on the threatened coral, Acropora palmata. Allan's thesis work documented the effects of physical damage on disease prevalence and snail predation of A. palmata. In 2009, he was employed with the University of Miami (UM-CIMAS) as a contract worker for NOAA-SEFSC where he was able to continue working with the threatened corals A. palmata and A. cervicornis, in addition to other coral restoration work.
