Jenna Moore grew up in Ontario, Canada and Deltona, Florida, and attended university at the University of Florida in Gainesville. There, she met Dr. Gustav Paulay, who fostered in her an appreciation and passion for marine invertebrate systematics and ecology. She volunteered in the marine invertebrate collection at FLMNH as an undergraduate, and began working full-time after graduation in 2009. This included two expeditions to Moorea, French Polynesia, where she helped with the BioCode biodiversity inventory. In September 2011 she began graduate studies at Scripps Institution of Oceanography where she is working on phylogeographic studies of Antarctic invertebrates. She plans to examine the phylogeny, systematics, and natural history of chaetopterid polychaetes for her core thesis work.
