Nathaniel Evans

Graduate Research Assistant, PhD. Candidate

In 2005, Nathaniel Evans received an Honors B.S. in Biology from Oregon State University. From 2005-2007, he worked as a research assistant investigating phylogenetic relationships within Medusozoa for the NSF-funded Cnidarian Tree of Life project. In 2009, he received an M.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Kansas. Also in 2009, he began his PhD work in the Biology Dept. at the University of Florida under Dr. Gustav Paulay of the Florida Museum of Natural History (FLMNH). For his thesis he is investigating the systematics and evolutionary history of swimming crabs belonging to the subfamily Thalamitinae. His work at the FLMNH also includes integrative taxonomy in which molecular and morphological data is combined to assess marine invertebrate diversity and distributions.
