    2015 marked an important milestone in our Foundation’s life – completion of the field-work for our Global Reef Expedition (GRE). However, the project is far from over as we bear down on the ominous task of analyzing the many terabytes of data we collected in five years.

    2013 Annual Report

    This 2013 annual report gives us the opportunity to reflect on three full years completed on our ambitious Global Reef Expedition. We have now surveyed and mapped the coral reefs of eleven different countries, widely distributed from the Caribbean Sea to the vast South Pacific Ocean.

    2012 Annual Report

    This annual report chronicles our second full year of the Global Reef Expedition in which we completed our work in the greater Caribbean, conducted research in the Galapagos and journeyed to the South Pacific. Our accomplishments have been impressive to date but much work remains.

    2011 Annual Report

    Our ambitious and highly anticipated Global Reef Expedition (GRE) began this year, marking 2011 as a milestone year for the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation. Planning for this complex project began in 2007 and GRE research operations are anticipated to continue through 2016; defining a new decade of advancements in surveying, mapping and conserving global coral reefs.

    2010 Annual Report

    By many measures, 2010 was a notable year for the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation. This year, the Foundation turned ten years old. From my perspective, the first ten years of the Living Oceans Foundation represented the organization’s first generation. This was a time of formation, discovery, learning experiences, capacity building and refining of capabilities. The Foundation is now poised to embark upon its second generation.
